The WNBA playoff image is starting to emerge.
With just a few days to go before the regular season, seven teams have taken over the playoffs (Connecticut Sun, Las Vegas Aces, Minnesota Lynx, Seattle Storm, Phoenix Mercury, Chicago Sky and Dallas Wings), and three teams remain in the final battle (Washington Mystics, Los Angeles Sparks and New York Liberty). The seeds are going very well, so even teams that know they’re heading into the postseason have a reason to fight for the competition.

Here’s all you need to know before the 2021 WNBA playoffs, including the new tournament form.
When do the WNBA playoffs start in 2021?
- Last full season: Sunday, September 19th
- WNBA final matches: Thursday, Sept. 23
The 2021 WNBA Championship kicks off on Thursday, Sep. 23. WNBA match deadline and Tuesday, October 19.

How will the WNBA playoffs work?
- Eight teams will qualify for the WNBA playoffs with a season-long record that sets the standards for the teams’ performance. The top two seeds will go to the end of the semifinal, and the third and fourth will get to the second stage.
- The first and second rounds are eliminated once, and the semifinal and WNBA Finals are top-five. Top seed will have Games 1, 2 and 5, while low seed will receive Games 3 and 4 on this list.
- Groups will be reorganized after the show.
