Many technologies today depend on algorithms. We can see this in the movies where the text from the people with whom we chat is often shown at the top. This assumes that since we associate with it, we want to see more. Then we look at how algorithms are used to help display the ads you buy when you buy.
All of this is designed to give us more time or more money on the platform, but it seems to be what the Chinese government does not want. So much so that the Cyberspace Administration of China has announced that over the next three years, it wants to establish rules governing the methods used by technology companies to attract users.
According to the CAC, the algorithms developed by these companies should be based on the principles of socialism and should be based on security and responsibility. Back in August, the CAC actually issued guidelines that suggested that companies should not use strategic schemes to attract customers to spend more money.
China is not alone in trying to establish algorithms. The US and EU governments have also asked technology companies to change the algorithms they use to address the problem of false news.
