Earlier this year, Google unveiled a new security / privacy feature for Google Photos in the form of Closed Folders. As the name implies, this creates a private folder that lets you hide photos and videos that you consider private. However, the only downside was that the interface was available with Pixel phones.
The good news is that if you are not a Pixel phone owner and are not planning to upgrade your Pixel phone, you will be happy to hear that Google has announced that the Locked Folder section will soon be expanding to more devices. Android 6.0 app or new. How do you know if you have received a new one?
According to Google, users who have received a new locked folder will receive information on their devices that encourages them to install it. Obviously this is required to have Google Photos on your phone and to have a device running Android 6.0 or newer, otherwise you will not receive this.
Google does not specify when it will be released unless it says “soon”, which is why we think we’ll take a closer look. It should also be released slowly so if you don’t have one but someone does, don’t worry too much about it.
