Three reasons the Lakers sold Marc Gasol to the Grizzlies

Less than a year after signing with the Lakers for free, Marc Gasol is already on his way from Los Angeles.

Lakers sells Gasol, 2024 second and money to Grizzlies in exchange for Wang Zhelin’s rights, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. Gasol will not join Memphis in the 2021-22 season, however, as Wojnarowski says the Grizzlies want to work with the 36-year-old on release, which could give him a chance to stay in Spain with his family.

This may seem strange on the ground considering that the start of the camps did not come down for three weeks, but the inscriptions have been on the wall for some time. There are three reasons why Marc Gasol is no longer a member of the Lakers:

1. Petroleum activity had declined by the end of the 2020-21 season. He scored a few points (5.0), a rebound (4.1) and a minute (19.1) per game, and played very little in Los Angeles ’first series against Phoenix. The agreement looked good on paper, but it didn’t just click completely.

2. The Lakers’ front is full. Los Angeles signed Dwight Howard to a free agency last month and recently added DeAndre Jordan, who joined the Pistons after the Nets sent him to Detroit. Anthony Davis has also been taking a minute to the center, so Gasol would have struggled to find a place to turn to Frank Vogel.

3. Saving money is important, even one of the things of the most important groups in the world. In terms of oil sales, the Lakers cut $ 10 million in salaries and taxes, according to Wojnarowski. He also created another study area.

As for Gasol, he can finish breathing, though it is not known if he is leaving basketball or breathing. If this is indeed the end of the road, it brings his basketball tour to a full circle. Gasol was traded from the Lakers to the Grizzlies early in his career, and the relationship between the two teams could end.
