St Johnstone boss Callum Davidson has signed a new contract to keep him at the club until 2025 | Football Stories

St Johnstone manager Callum Davidson has signed a new contract that could give him a club until 2025.

It will also strengthen the Saints after Davidson led them to the Cup twice and finished six six last season.

“I’m very happy,” said Davidson. This club has been a big part of my life and knowing that I will be a few years old is exciting.

“What we accomplished last season was very exciting and now we look forward to adding to that as we all go together.

“I have good staff in the back room and a large group of boys playing. They are all good.

“Everyone in the Football Department, as well as everyone around the club, will continue to provide everything we need to move forward and do our best.”

St Johnstone will be looking for a point on Saturday when they meet Ranger Steven Gerrard, staying at Sky Sports from 12pm.

The Saints are eighth in the Scottish Premiership having won once in their first four games.

Commenting on the future of their manager, chairman Steve Brown added: “Callum is the most successful manager in our history and one of the best young managers in British football.

“We are all happy that he has signed this new contract. This is very good news. When I appointed him last summer I told him he had been given time to become a manager and he did well in the area.

“The long-term partnership will allow him to move forward, knowing that he has the full support of everyone in the Football Club. We have a great partnership at St Johnstone and we are together as we strive to do our best for our supporters.

“I said last week that we will be reinstated to the Football Department. Today is the beginning of this. We will continue to work hard behind the scenes so that we can continue to make progress.”
