Birmingham continued their climb in the Sky Bet Championship as they beat Derby 2-0 on Friday night.
The defensive mix allowed Scott Hogan to give Lee Bowyer’s men the lead (31), with a strong finish for Jeremie Bela to end any hopes of fighting Derby (81).
In the middle of the second half, Blues’ young favorite Troy Deeney – who joined the club from Watford late last month – was brought in for the first time, much to the delight of St Andrew’s fans.
The win lifts Birmingham to fourth, two points behind Fulham leaders, ahead of what remains of the weekend, with Wayne Rooney’s Derby sitting 16th.
