That has been long awaited change and Isaac Asimov natural sci-fi games Foundation is about to reach us – the 10-episode list has already been washed out on Apple TV + next week. The author worked on the subject for more than 50 years, the last book in the saga was released after his death in 1993. So to say that there is multiple characters, preferences, and great ideas play can be ridiculous. Fortunately, participants are aware of what they are doing.
As it appears on the bath, Foundation begins with the mathematician Hari Seldon (Jared Harris) proving his brilliant theory that the Galactic Empire, a world power, is about to collapse. It follows Seldon and his followers as they chase down the edge of the galaxy, where they control a new world and prepare for the unstable future that lies ahead. Not only does it look a bit like what Apple TV + is all about – and even then, the list still leaves a lot to be desired. This was something that the showman, writer, and great producer David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight, Batman Ayamba, Dark City) he knew it was going to be important from the very beginning, and he ended up helping her prioritize what she wanted to be shown.
“Every time I change something, I read it or revisit it, and I try to write down what I think are the original ideas, the essential ingredients,” he told io9 in a video interview. “In this case, because Asimov was not alive, I was talking to his place, and his daughter, and I said, ‘I want to make sure I understand the ingredients that make up Foundation, Foundation. Luckily, he said, yeah, we feel like you’ve gotten involved in the most important things. And because we are changing this now, more than 70 years after Asimov wrote – you know, it was a mere figment of the imagination of World War II – some of the events, some of which we are asking questions, we will change because we are talking to the audience today and not the audience after World War II. ”
The first major, important change: distinguishing the characters. “Because there are no women in the first book, I said to Asimov’s place, ‘How would you feel if we just took a few men or women?’ And they said, “We like it. We think Asimov himself would have fully agreed,” Goyer said.

Everywhere, the characters sat in the starting lineup FoundationLots of story. “It is impossible to make a line and a line of words and phrases Foundation, especially 70 years later. That’s why you try to make sure you stick to those who are renting — but, let’s be honest, people choose who’s being mentioned. So you need to make sure that the characters have three-dimensional imagery, so that we care about their hopes and dreams. These books are mainly psychological books. Many major events take place in a window and are located between sentences. We knew we were going to fix some of those events. But the thing I was trying to find out was the mention – so I try to find ways to create characters that can be in the head and mind that Asimov was working with. ”
In one of the characters, Goyer explained, then real-time – something that helped make it happen FoundationIts design, which viewers should be aware of includes time-varying changes. “The same list of books makes this jump in time, especially the first book is the most advanced,” Goyer said. “Few people go from one story to the next. At my first meeting at Apple, I told them, ‘Guys, time and character. You just have to hug them. ‘We skip over time. We jump forward. We jump backwards. Sometimes we will talk about two parallel stories that work in different times. We just have to hug it. It would be crazy to disagree. And fortunately, everyone agreed. ”
While Goyer is waiting Foundation begging “book lovers,” also realizing that many viewers may not have read it, and may not be familiar with the subject. “I see myself as someone who respects these books,” Goyer said. “But I especially know that I’m making it [the show] for audiences who haven’t read the books and may not consider themselves lovers of science fiction, which is a good thing. I think it’s important. So for my writers, actors, fellow directors — I talked to every event, and every story, we need to be able to get rid of space ships and robots with science fiction and make sure this story works like it was a modern drama. What are the realities of this story? Do we understand? Can we lay it out? If it doesn’t work without science fiction, then this is not a story to tell. That was really north of us as we walked through the show: this should be possible for people who can’t see themselves as lovers of science fiction, as I think Game of Thrones brought in people who were not really fond of fiction. ”
Goyer also has hat tips Game of Thrones considering why this is the right time for Foundation list. “I think the witch doctor caught Asimov; I don’t think this would have happened before the big demonstrations, ”he said. “The audience on this show is good with something that is slowly coming out – again, thanks to movies like Game of Thrones multi-ethnic, birth story. ”
However, Goyer feels the same way FoundationIts chapters make it extremely important, even decades after the first book was written. “None of us can predict how smart the show would be after the global epidemic. We were about to film when the plague started and, well, on the one hand, it’s interesting, I would say the show is more important today than when Asimov wrote the books. , “Goyer said. “What I stick to, what I think is important to the audience, is that Asimov was a humanist. He believes in science. He believes in faith. He believes he can see us in dark times. And as soon as I started showing Apple, that’s what I threw. And, you know, I don’t think it’s the bad news to be delivered right now. ”
FoundationThe first two episodes arrive Sept. 24 on Apple TV + and the weekly drops will be on Friday.
