Daniil Medvedev was overjoyed at Novak Djokovic’s victory over Serb at the end of the 2021 US Open. Medvedev called Djokovic “the greatest player in tennis history”, and apologized for refusing to participate in the Calendar Slam.
Daniil Medvedev suspended Novak Djokovic’s 27-match win over the Slams and performed incredibly consistent. The Russian broke once in his 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 victory, while reducing Djokovic’s game from start to finish.
A loving demonstration ceremony followed the game, with all the players talking intently. While Djokovic assured Medvedev that he would be there for most of his career, the Russian acknowledged what his enemy had already achieved at the time.
“I’m just saying this for what you’ve achieved this year and for all your work,” Medvedev said. “I haven’t said this to anyone but I will say it right now. To me you are the greatest player in tennis history.”
With Novak Djokovic chasing history and trying to reach 21 Slams in front of rivals, Arthur Ashe’s team was behind Serbia. The fans seem to have taken part in the only moment that Daniil Medvedev broke (at 5-2 in the third set), making a lot of noise at the points.
Although they did not receive their support as loudly as Djokovic did, Medvedev was kind to the crowd by saying victory.
“I would like to say sorry to you fans and Novak, because we all know what he is going through today,” Medvedev said. “You fans have given me a lot of energy, from 2019 until now. It has helped me even today.”
Daniil Medvedev’s special order for his wife is FIFA
On a special occasion speaking on the platform, Daniil Medvedev spoke about his third wedding anniversary – which took place on the same day. The 25-year-old revealed that he was struggling to get his wife a present during the picnic season, happily saying that this was one of the reasons for his success on the Sabbath.
“I want to end a positive conversation,” Medvedev said. “It’s the third celebration my wife and I have today. In the middle of the race I didn’t think about the prizes. After the semester, I thought I should get the prize quickly. The only thing I thought was that if I didn’t win the final, I had to win the game!”
At the end of his speech, Medvedev recounted his special celebration, where he slept side by side with a strange tongue. The Russian has confirmed he is imitating the celebration of the fall of the brick wall from FIFA.
“Only a few legends understand what I did after the game: L2 + Left,” he concluded.
