In the midst of the resurrection in harassment camps run by computer bots, companies like Twitch are using a much more straightforward approach – a lesser “hammer hammer,” and the same as small criminal hackers.
Twitch is introducing a new tool that the company hopes to reduce the threats to social networking sites. From today, operators around the world will be able to ask other users to verify their phone number before participating in a discussion. This additional component can help reduce the inconvenience of non-personal accounts, the opinion goes. The show comes in the wake of the bottling epidemic, dubbed the “hate attack,” in which bullies send hundreds or thousands of bots into chat rooms. Here, bot accounts read hateful, rigorous, sometimes using unicode that avoids speech filtering.
Advertisers who were affected by the violence threatened to speak out about the disruption that has led to their policies. At times, they are forced to stop singing on Twitch together. The devastation has prompted two major media outlets and lawsuits so far in response. In early September, thousands of people and their supporters organized a one-day demonstration, #ADayOffTwitch, Resisting threats and informing the public. The hashtag #TwitchDoBetter has become popular on Twitter. As soon as he left, Twitch arrested him two users who are said to be militants. But the company also needs to set boundaries between making its platform safer and more accessible. Chat rooms are essential in order for the speakers to attract the attention of their audience. If Twitch makes it very difficult for new viewers to post, the task can be quite costly.
Twitch’s strategy so far has been providing leaders with an insight into who they can and can’t interact with. Advertisers have the option to create their own subscriptions, or to limit their chat so that administrators can accept messages. There is also the possibility of forcing all speakers to verify their emails on Twitch. This was not enough, however.
The company believes that further verification of the telephone number in the box may be helpful. Users can verify up to five accounts via a single phone number, as there are good reasons why advertisers have multiple accounts — such as creating chatbots to share useful information. If one account related to a restricted number, all other accounts will also be. Unlike authentication for two things, viewers only need to confirm once, not every time they enter or chat. And phone authentication will work in all ways that viewers need it.
A Twitch spokesman said the retail industry began operating on the equipment five months ago, before the August epidemic.
