LONDON, Sept 14 (Reuters) – Britain is ready and looking forward to starting trade talks with the United States, British Foreign Minister Liz Truss said on Tuesday when asked about a time frame to negotiate.
Truss made the remarks after giving a speech encouraging companies to adopt the British approach after the Brexit initiative to provide assistance to middle-class people in the Indo-Pacific region.
His remarks did not mention an alliance with the United States – it was said to be one of the biggest rewards to leave the European Union during the 2016 referendum campaign, and his opponents tried to get a closer deal with former US President Donald Trump.
Since Joe Biden’s election victory, hopes for a speedy end have almost come to an end as new US officials revisit Trump’s trade policy.
Asked about US cooperation at a ceremony at the Exchange Exchange, Truss said: “Obviously the US is a great opportunity to be ready to negotiate.”
He could not set a deadline for the deal, and he refused to commit to joining the British election which is due to take place in 2024 soon.
However, he cited an agreement with the United States to eliminate trade-related taxes as a sign that both parties were closely aligned on trade union ideas. (Author William James; Author Michael Holden)
