LONDON (AP) – Britain announced Tuesday that it was delaying the start of the Brexit border check on food exports from the European Union, saying trade disruptions from the coronavirus epidemic have created problems for businesses.
Delay means monitoring EU agriculture and wildlife which is due to start from October not announced until next year.
The UK said a “new job schedule” could reduce the pressure on businesses to cope with the effects of the flu epidemic. He also said that the announcement of the goods and repairs will be announced on January 1, but the security announcement will not be required until July 1.
Brexit Minister David Frost said “we want businesses to focus more on their recovery than to address new border issues.”
He also said the epidemic “has had a greater impact on business, in the UK and in the European Union, than many observers expect.”
“There is also pressure on international chains, due to a variety of factors including the epidemic and the high cost of transportation around the world. These problems are especially felt when it comes to food. ”
Britain has been plagued by problems over the past few months, with a shortage of grocery stores, chicken coops and other bars. Experts point to positive storm surges, including Brexit and COVID-19, which lead to a shortage of workers in key areas such as vehicles.
Since Britain left the single EU market in late 2020, exports from the bloc should be monitored in the same way as goods from anywhere in the world.
This is the second time that the UK has failed to implement other checks agreed to in its EU alliance.
