JERUSALEM (AP) – Palestinian forces launched a rocket into Israel from the Gaza Strip on Sunday night, Israeli forces said, adding that the rocket had been seized.
The reshuffle took place in the wake of a major crisis after six Palestinian soldiers escaped from Israeli jails last week and fought in a 11-day war last May.
Israel over the weekend captured four of the six fleeing prisoners and continued to search for the remaining two refugees.
In response, Gaza militants threw stones at Israel for three consecutive nights. Israel responds by responding to rockets and airstrips on targets linked to the Gaza Strip Hamas.
The crisis is exacerbated by the ongoing crisis over a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas after the war in May.
The Egyptians have been trying to break the alliance. Hamas has called on Israel to withdraw Gaza, while Israel wants Hamas to release two Israeli citizens and restore the remains of two Israeli soldiers who died.
Israel and Hamas have also been unable to agree on a plan to allow Qatar to provide aid to thousands of Gaza families.
Israel says it wants assurance that Hamas will not change any military spending.
