Eric Zemmour, and a television host against the guests, has asked for a run-off election ahead of France’s presidential election next year, and has threatened to remove Marine Le Pen’s right-wing leader as the main opposition to Emmanuel Macron.
Zemmour scored 13% of the voting goal in the first round of April’s election, starting with 7% when he was first fielded as a candidate three weeks ago. Le Pen has dropped to 16% from 28% in the summer, according to Harris Interactive research published this week.
While Macron’s initial support for the Macron election remains strong at 23%, and current research shows that if it met with Le Pen in the second round, Zemmour in recent weeks has rekindled the French political crisis over immigration, Islam and law and order, disrupting Le Pen and potential candidates right-wing Les Républicains. Zemmour has not yet finalized the decision.
“There is a risk of launching the campaign,” said Jean-Yves Camus, a dangerous political analyst. “They have taken votes from the former supporters of a [then centre-right candidate François] Fillon in 2017, and some from Marine Le Pen. ”
The Frenchman has been on the move ever since “Macron” without right or left “replaced Socialist François Hollande as president in 2017. Zemmour’s growth, supported by the show on the first radio program on CNews – a method that researchers call France Fox News – has accelerated hand-to-hand change in national politics.
Zemmour has twice been convicted of racial or religious hatred. He summoned 2m visitors to be deported from France.
When the Macron government criticized Zemmour’s views it reversed its policy in recent weeks to emphasize intruders and curb crime.
On Tuesday, Attorney General Gabriel Attal announced a significant reduction in visas issued by France to North African countries of Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco for refusing to accept the return of illegal immigrants to France.
Zemmour he replied mocking the relocation period seven months before the French election, they say people like they had already decided to coerce foreign governments but dismissed them as dangerous. “All of a sudden Emmanuel Macron’s government is following in the footsteps of extremists,” he said.
Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin said in an interview with Le Figaro newspaper on Wednesday that the government had closed mosques and organizations that are said to be under Islamic supervision. “No government has taken any action against political Islam,” he said.
Some politicians have joined the party. Le Pen, who has always opposed many immigrants but wants to “destroy” his party and its racist history, this week called for a referendum on citizenship, recognition and tourism. Michel Barnier, one of the leading LR right-backs, is with them called for the deportation of heirs of three to five years.
Zemmour has surpassed all left and right representatives, including Anne Hidalgo, the Socialist mayor of Paris. His 13 percent puts him in fourth place, similar to Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s left-wing party in La France Insoumise (France Unbowed) and could secure second place.
