Team GB has announced that British metalworkers Rebekah Tiler and Sonny Webster will take part in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Interested young Rebekah Tiler is set to compete in the women’s category -69kg, while 22-year-old Sonny Webster will fly the Great Britain flag in the -94kg men’s category.
The 17-year-old Tiler, from Keighley, West Yorkshire, is expected to become one of Team GB’s top athletes in this Summer Olympics. He has become like the British Champion, having won a British title in a recent British competition. He also won a gold medal at the Youth Commonwealth Games. Sonny Webster is also the British Champion here and finished fifth at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, as well as the U23 British U23 champion.
In an election in Rio, Tiler said:
“I’m happy and honored to represent Team GB in Rio this summer; it ‘s a dream come true and something I have always wanted since the game.
Bristolian Webster also stated:
“The Olympics are without a doubt the biggest stage in the sport. I have been well trained and what I have done recently at the British Championships has given me an excellent platform to build on; The next few weeks the preparation is absolutely perfect essential. ”
Former girlfriend Zoe Smith was removed for running with a broken shoulder at the British Championships last month. Smith expressed his frustrationnot to represent Team GB at Games in an Instagram post today, but I wish all the best to Tiler Summer. Games.
Tommy Yule, Britain’s Weightlifting project manager, has expressed his pride in Tiler and Webster’s selection.
