Knicks center Nerlens Noel is suing former Paul Rich for $ 58 million in lost money, according to court ruling Game Dealer.
The case, which was filed Monday in Dallas, Noel’s advice from Paul led him to reject a four-year, $ 70 million offer that Maverick was offering the site in 2017. The Knicks Center also claims that Paul – representing NBA megastars like LeBron James, Trae Young and Anthony Davis – failed to fulfill his role as Noel’s agent, ignoring donations and ignoring the interest of the teams to his client.
Noel hired Paul in 2017, then fired him in 2020.
The case alleges that Noel first met Paul at the Ben Simmons birthday party in July 2017; Noel at the time was represented by Happy Walters, his assistant since he finished 6th in the 2013 NBA Draft. So far he had scores of 10, 7.5 rebound, 1.6 assist, 1.6 theft and 1.5 block in three NBA season games and the 76ers and Maverick, who sold him in February 2017.
The lawsuit alleges that Noel told Ben Simmons he was “$ 100 million” and that he could receive a large sum of money after he broke up with Walters. Noel took Paul for granted, signing at Klutch Sports. Noel says Paul told him to reject the four-year Mavs contract, $ 70 million instead of signing one year, $ 4.1 million eligible to be free next summer.
However, Noel tore a cord in his finger that season, playing only 30 games and counting 4.0, 5.6 rebound and stealing idle games. At that point, Noel says, Paul began to lose interest in her as a customer. He hit unlimited freedom in 2018, as he expected, but found that Paul did not make any donations or ideas.
Noel says he was selected to play for Thunder with Paul George and Russell Westbrook; signed a two-year contract with $ 3.75 million, compared to 4.9, 4.2 rebound and 1.2 block per game. Noel says Paul has nothing to do with taking him to Oklahoma City, yet he also mentions the 2% Commission as his agent.
The lawsuit alleges that Paul or Klutch Sports did not work to get him a part-time job; after rejecting the second-year election (again in Paul’s opinion), Noel said he entered freely without participating.
“During the 2018-2019 season and beyond, Paul or Klutch Sports did not try to secure a deal or agreement on Noel’s behalf. for his second year, he is also hitting the free market. “
This, Noel’s, forced him to join another, one-year-old partnership with OKC.
It was then that Noel learned from his former Philadelphia coach Brett Brown that the 76ers had tried to contact Paul to sign Noel, but that the agent had not responded. Noel said he had heard similar results from other teams at the time.
Noel said he was considering leaving Paul as an agent in 2020, but was pressured not to do so by Klutch Sports assistant Lucas Newton, who said Bingu is working a three-year deal for $ 7-10 million a year; when the opportunity did not come, Newton reportedly told him the team was running money in the books to make it happen. During this time, Noel said he heard that Paul did not answer the phone from the Rockets or Clippers.
Noel has finally signed with the Knicks following the 2019-20 season. That said, he only learned of New York’s interest in him after Knicks President Leon Rose contacted his friend and mentor Steve Dorn to call Paul. Noel eventually left the club with Klutch Sports in December 2020 after realizing the club had also sacked Norris Cole and Shabazz Muhammed: non-star players LeBron, Young and others.
Following his one-year contract with the Knicks, Noel – in his first free trial without Paul as his assistant – signed a three-year contract, $ 32 million. Considering Maverick’s 2017 contract Paul allegedly advised Noel to refuse, considering the few agreements he had signed, Noel told Paul to pay him $ 58 million at a loss.
